I’m one of those pandemic gardeners. Although, that’s not entirely true; I grew up stealing cherry tomatoes out of my Mom’s fantastic garden in Montana. She always had the green thumb. I didn’t. She did canning demonstrations at the State Fair. I branched off into edible wild plants, because nature did a better job at growing things than I did.
I would do OK at gardening, but it always felt like I was spending way more than I was getting. The infamous $50 worth of tomato seedlings that ended up yielding 3 mediocre tomatoes. And yet something about it kept bringing me back, and I kept trying.
Then came COVID and lockdown, and being at home all day changed everything. I started paying attention to the plants, and that was the missing link. Things started to grow.
The second key to success was YouTube and podcasts. Instead of having to content myself with the random HGTV gardening show, I found endless hours of expert advice. I found my people. And if you’re reading this, maybe you’re one of them.
I’m no expert. I just want to share what I’m learning, and what I’m doing, so that maybe it helps inspire someone to try gardening, or helps an existing gardener with something they haven’t tried yet that makes their gardening efforts more enjoyable. Thanks for stopping by!
